Practice Flow
0:00-0:08 - Free Puck Exploration
Every player starts with a puck. Coaches move through the zone encouraging turns, stops, changes of direction, and head-up skating.
0:08-0:18 - Gate Skating With Pucks
Set cone gates around the zone. Players skate through as many gates as possible while carrying a puck.
0:18-0:30 - Sharks and Minnows With Pucks
Players try to carry pucks across the zone while coaches apply light pressure. If a puck is lost, the player retrieves it and keeps playing.
0:30-0:42 - 2v2 Cross-Ice Game
Use short shifts and small teams. Keep the puck moving and change groups quickly.
0:42-0:52 - Treasure Puck Game
Teams collect pucks from the middle and bring them back to their base. Players must carry one puck at a time.
0:52-1:00 - Fun Finish Game
End with cross-ice play. Coaches praise effort, smiles, and players trying again after mistakes.
Teaching Points

- Protect the puck by turning your body.
- Try again quickly after losing the puck.
Progressions
- Add coaches as light pressure.
- Use smaller spaces.
- Require players to stop at each gate.
- Add passing gates for stronger players.
Next Shift Challenge
Count puck touches, not perfect plays. The goal is to create comfort and confidence through repetition.
